The heart of my work is an examination of the intangible, often fragmentary nature of identity.

My figurative paintings transform materials that feel solid and assertive into a more tentative, and contingent form. Translucent veils -- whether paint or mylar --both obscure and reveal. In an echo of the tenuousness and uncertainty of experience, the figure finally finds its place in the painting through an iterative process of being lost and rediscovered.

In my collages, hand-painted papers are torn, sliced, and overlaid. The materials feel at once treasured and expendable, inviting playful exploration. The stopping place is as much a record of questions asked as a depiction of discovered visual answers.
